| ACT Australia Cup team gets set for state match |

The ACT team for this Saturday's Australia Cup at the AIS Stadium will showcase the talent of our athletes here in Canberra. Three impressive young guns- all aged 14 (Erika Vredenbregt, Stephanie Pollard and Robert Clay) will join our team of elite athletes to take on the state teams in a grudge match.
Vredenbregt, who has recently jumped a qualifier of 1.70m for the Australian Open nationals will jump on Saturday in both the Little Athletics Team as well as the Senior Team. Our three young athletes will join their teams members to make up this excitingly impressive team.
The ACT team will be spearheaded by sprinter Melissa Breen in the 100m and Brendan Matthews in the Men's 100m event. Javelin man, Jari Talka will take on New Zealand's Stuart Farquhar and Tasmania's Hamish Peacock. Lauren Boden, who ran a B-qualifier for the Commonwealth Games last Friday is set to run the invitational 400m Hurdles and the 4x100m relay with Stephanie Pollard, Brendan Galic and Queanbeyan Gift winner Luke Storta. Local middle-distance athletes Kale Symons and Andrea Illakovac will line up in the 800m and 1500m respectively, while speedsters Chris Troode and Angelina Blackburn will get set for the 400m. Young Gun Robert Clay will take on the Triple Jump, while Jess Penney will jump for the team in the Long Jump. The 5000m invitational track walk will feature dual Olympic Meadalist Jared Tallent, Luke Adams and Adam Rutter. ACT's Jillian Hosking will compete with Jess Rothwell, Claire Tallent and Cheryl Webb to fight it out for the Women's race walk crown.
