New Social Media Policy for AACT Members
Members of Athletics ACT are advised that a new Social Media Policy has been developed in line with ongoing changes and developments in technology and online social networking and can be accessed on the website at
This policy is intended to protect the interests of Athletics ACT; it’s Clubs; members, and associated stakeholders, by defining the requirements expected in the use of social media.
Athletics ACT embraces the use of online social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, and recognises its importance as a corporate communications tool. Athletics ACT seeks to encourage information and link-sharing amongst its membership, staff, and volunteers, and to utilise the expertise of its employees and volunteers in generating appropriate social media content.
A recent attempted ‘hacking’ of the Athletics ACT Instagram account, sadly by one of our members, has prompted the Board of Directors to include a series of sanctions against any member who breaches the policy.
The policy will be made explicitly known to the ACT All Schools Team travelling to Adelaide and discussed at the Team Meeting on Tuesday 14 November.
Parents of junior athletes, and coaches, are asked to familiarise themselves with the contents of the policy.
