Australian All Schools: Selection through September High Noon Meets
The selection guidelines for the 2018 Australian All Schools have now been made available; these can be found here along with nomination forms.
Athletes have been advised that due to the School Sport ACT 13 and over Championships only being run on a single school day a number of events have been moved to the Athletics ACT High Noon Series. The decision to host these events on separate days, and in early September has to do with the timing of ACT School Holidays and to allow adequate time for selection and entry processing before the close of entries in early November to Athletics Australia.
The following events will not be contested at the School Sport ACT 13 and Over Championships but instead during the last two High Noon Series events on the 2nd and 16th September.
- 1500/3000/5000m Walks - September 2nd
- 110/100/90/80m Hurdles - September 2nd
- 3000m Run - September 2nd
- Long Hurdles (200/400m) - September 16th
- Pole Vault - September 16th
- Hammer Throw - September 16th
- Steeple - September 16th
Entry into the above events is free for athletes competing for selection.
As per the selection guidelines, which can be found here, these events will be held as selection events. i.e. ‘AACT will select a maximum two athletes per event in the U14 age group, and a maximum of three athletes per event in the U16 & U18 age groups. If selecting 3 athletes in the U16 & U18 age groups, one must be U15 or U17 respectively.’
For athletes that are unable to compete at these events, and intend to be considered for selection, written notification along with evidence of the exceptional circumstance and ‘Non Held Events Nomination Form’ with their best performance since 1st January 2018 need to be provided to firstname.lastname@example.org by no later than COB 27th September 2018.
